How long will it take for my company to sell? 

This depends on the same factors as above. When a qualified buyer is found, it could take from one to three months to work through negotiations and complete the details of the transaction before ownership is transferred. Once your Intermediary accepts the engagement to sell your company, he or she will meet with you to learn all about your company.  After gathering research on your company, your market, your financials, etc., your Intermediary will then professionally ‘package’ your company by writing an ‘Offering Memorandum’ and posting confidential advertisements both locally and on the top national business brokerage websites and begin to search the market for the best and most qualified potential acquirers for your company.  Both you and your Maxbizvalue® Network Business Intermediary share a common goal—to sell your company quickly and for the best price and terms.

What steps are involved in selling my company?

 

Before your company is brought to the market, comprehensive research is performed: how you operate, who your customers are, who your competitors are, how you derive revenue, what your net income is, etc. For larger companies, it is likely that a Formal Valuation will be recommended to determine the true value of your company, allow a strong defense of your asking price, and to get the most money for your company. Your Intermediary will prepare an ‘Offering Memorandum’ which will describe your company in the best light, and then put your company on the market.  Once your company is on the market, your Intermediary will screen potential buyers to find the ones who are qualified and serious. Those buyers will be presented with the opportunity to acquire your company.  If more than one offer is put in for your company, your Intermediary will enter into negotiations with the buyers and accept whichever offer you choose. Your Intermediary will handle and oversee the transaction details and set up the closing. Your Intermediary will work closely with you to ensure that your goals are being met, and he will keep you informed of what is happening every step of the way.  

 
 

Do you ensure that the sale is confidential?

 

When selling a business, confidentiality is extremely important. Your Maxbizvalue® Network Business Intermediary has been trained to market your company to a sea of buyers while maintaining strict confidentiality. Limited information about your company will be released only to buyers who have signed a Non Disclosure Agreement and Buyer Profile Form.  If the buyer meets stringent credibility and financial criteria, then your Intermediary may release additional information.  Your Intermediary will also show you how to keep the transaction confidential from your employees, customers, and competitors.
